In 2025, Theun Nouwens Fascinated by furniture and their hidden constructions, he began an apprenticeship with a framer and restorer two years ago. There, he learned techniques such as gilding imitation, wood gluing, and ebony imitation.

He applied this knowledge to a design that merges classical craftsmanship with modern materials. The piece is constructed from OSB board glued to pine, finished with homemade linseed oil paint, and enhanced with gilded accents that create depth. The pine was treated with an ebony imitation, giving the work a timeless, classical presence while remaining firmly rooted in the present.
